Since pre-school I’ve been a voracious reader and an autodidact. I earned a BA in English education (with a minor in physical science) from Western Illinois University, as well as a MA in English literature from the State University of New York at Cortland. For eight years I taught junior high and high school students in the areas of English, chemistry, physics, and physical science. Most days I loved it.
I stopped teaching after my first child was born. Six years into motherhood (of both the biological and adoptive varieties), I began managing my own, and others’, WordPress sites.
Since then, there’s never been a time when I wasn’t elbows-deep in multiple sites per day. My clients range from authors and photographers to inventors, activists, sexworkers, consultants, small-business owners, and attorneys. I’ve collaborated on projects with people from coast to coast as well as in Canada, Europe, and Australia.1
As if that wasn’t enough, I also teach classes in WordPress at Heartland Community College. Over the course of four short weeks my students go from nothing to a completely functional website.
When I’m not in someone’s website (and sometimes when I am), I attempt to herd three children and two cats, shop for groceries, and keep up with the laundry. Any free time is spent reading, having extreme anxiety over Breaking Bad and Homeland, and engaging in a never-ending rewatch cycle of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I truly believe I have the best clients and students in the world. Every day I feel extraordinary gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of making their goals a reality.
Have a question? Need some WordPress help? I’m only an email away.
- I would be thrilled to add an Icelandic or Antarctic client to the mix. Know anyone? [↩]
